Green Schools Newsletter October 2011
Firstly thank you to all involved in Green Schools last year and in helping us to maintain all the good habits we have kept up to maintain our ‘Green flag’ status which proudly hangs outside our new building. Thank you to last years’ committee and welcome to all new committee members both children and adults.
News for October and the coming year
· The committe and everyone in the school have now begun the hard work to aim to achieve our second flag – a blue flag for energy efficiency. This involves constant reviewing, monitoring and evaluation of our energy usage in the school and the aim is to reduce that as much as we can. We will keep you updated on our work and progress!
· Day of Action - One of our first events will take place in the school on October28th. Our day of action will be an introduction to all the children in the school on how to save energy. We will be running a competition for a new ‘Blue Code’ and we will be running poster and art competitions next week leading up to our Day of Action. Prizes will be awarded that day. Energy Squads from around the school will then get to work!
· We are continuing to collect old batteries and also ink cartridges for Cartridge Green Naas so please continue to send those in to us. Thank you.
· Clothing Collection- There will be a charity clothing collection next Friday 28th also. Please place items in bags provided to the children. Return by Friday next please.
· Lunch Boxes – Thank you for the efforts made to avoid the use of tinfoil and cling film in lunch boxes as these are not recyleable.
Thanks in advance for your support!
