Scoil Bhríde, applied for and was successful in its application for inclusion in the IBM Kidssmart Programme.The IBM KidSmart Early Learning Programme is a worldwide programme designed to explore the role of ICT in early childhood development and to help bridge the digital divide. It consists of specially designed Young Explorer centres for children aged 3-7 years, teacher training and a website with support for parents and teachers. We were lucky enough to be awarded two units which will be used for the two classes for children with autism.
The Centre consists of an IBM multi-media computer housed in a colourful and durable ‘Little Tikes’ workstation and uses educational software from ‘Riverdeep’ and a colour printer. Riverdeep software titles included ‘Bailey’s Book-house’, ‘Millie’s Math House’, ‘Sammy’s Science House’, ‘Stanley’s Sticker Stories’ and ‘Trudy’s Time and Place House’
