Contact Point for the Parent Association

Kill National School parents association are now contactable on a new e-mail address which has been set up to give all parents the opportunity to ask questions or make comments about any matters relating to the school. The new e-mail address is parentskns@gmail.com.

National Parents Council Bullying Helpline

The helpline is available on 01 887 4477 and is open from:

  • 10 am – 5 pm Monday to Wednesday
  • 10 am – 4 pm Thursday to Friday.

Training for Parents

The parent association organise free training courses for parents during the course of the school year. Parents are notified of upcoming training courses through texts and the school/PA newsletters. If you would like to attend any course please send an e-mail to parentskns@gmail.com detailing your name and contact number. Limited places are available and will be given on a first come first serve basis.

1. School & Office World – Newlands Retail Centre, Clondalkin

School and office world have been selling schoolbooks for over 37 years in Ireland. They are suppliers of office and school stationery and they also supply arts and craft materials for schools, creches and individuals alike. They are based in Clondalkin and Dundrum but can deliver to anywhere in the country. They also purchase second-hand schoolbooks & provide a book covering service.

2. Barker & Jones – The Book Centre, Friary Rd, Naas

Barker & Jones School Book Shop in Naas offers a school books savings card to help parents manage the yearly cost of school books. Simply pick up a school book savings card from the shop and start saving whatever amount you like onto the card. Once you have your school book savings card you can top it up at any till point in the store at any time. When you are collecting your school book order hand the savings card to the cashier and the total on your card will be deducted from your total bill. If you lose your card simply contact the shop where they have your details on file and they will issue you with a replacement card. Barker & Jones also provide a service whereby you hand in your book list at any time and the books will be reserved for you for collection at a later date.

4. The Wise Owl – Monread Shopping Centre, Naas

The Wise Owl Bookshop was established in 1984 and now has 11 branches in Leinster as well as its online bookshop. Wise Owl specialise in schoolbooks for primary and secondary schools in Ireland. The schoolbooks.ie school book service includes selling both primary and secondary books with nationwide delivery for a small charge. They also supply school stationary and schoolbags. School Policy on Teachers Presents

Kill National School enforces a policy of no presents for teachers, a policy that is fully supported by the schools’ parent association. We would ask every parent to adhere strictly to this policy.

Yearly Fundraising Events

The Parents Association organise a number of fundraising events during the course of the school year in addition to fundraising run by the school itself. All fundraising by the PA and by the school is completely voluntary but we would encourage all parents to support any of these events whenever they can.

Kill National School is a feeder school for many post primary schools in the surrounding area. As is the case with most secondary schools in the country parents are advised to register their children’s names in the local schools early as places can be limited.

Bus Service to/from Kill School

Two bus services are operated by Bus Eireann to/from Kill National School:

  • Transports children living in Johnstown village 2.
  • Transports children living in the various towns’ lands around the village itself including Sherlockstown, Killeen, Alasty, Painstown, Castlewarden, Blackhill & Kilwarden.

There are a number of criteria which must be fulfilled before a student is eligible for school transport. Full details are available on the Bus Eireann website under the school transport section – www.buseireann.ie.

Bus tickets for children attending secondary schools for the first time must be organised before end of April in the year they are due to start.
