The Best That I Can Be!!!
By Aoife Mulligan 5th Class
Being the best I can be,
Is learning to be me,
I just love being unique,
I don’t care if I am a cool or if I am a geek!
I Love to sing lots of songs,
And I am really looking forward to the Peace Proms!
We will dance and move,
And get the audience into the groove!
My Mom, Dad and Sister will be in the crowd,
Also with my Nana, I hope I will make them all proud,
But the most important person to be,
I think that is most definitely ME!!!
Huge thanks and congratulations to all Principals and Teachers whose school choirs performed in Peace Proms at the RDS over the weekend. The school curriculum has so much necessary raw material which must be covered in the course of each year, and so we greatly appreciate the huge amount of extra work that all teachers take on board when participating in this project; from learning the materials in class, to giving up your time voluntarily over the weekend.
The choir really rose to the occasion - they were outstanding and really shone!! Huge energy and pure joy radiated from the stage when they sang. Please pass on our congratulations to them for their sparkling and brilliant performances!!
Years of research show the benefits of stepping outside the classroom in order to transform learning and raise achievement through practical engagement. We hope that the experience of being part of this large scale production and singing with a full symphony orchestra and soloists will strengthen the children’s confidence; develop their curiosity about different musical styles; and encourage them to participate in musical projects throughout their lives.
We also want to thank you for helping us to bring the Arts to the wider community by encouraging Parents to come along to the concerts. Special thanks to Principals and Teachers who even organised buses for Parents. We had hugely positive feedback from Parents who said they didn’t know what to expect and were amazed by the entire production. Some said they found the occasion very emotional.
Finally we can’t emphasise enough how much we appreciate your patience and the calm clear way in which you organised your choir groups:- from helping us to manage parent drop-offs and collections, to moving your groups on and off stage. This contributed enormously to the smooth running of the entire event.
To everybody who has been working with us for years, and to all of you who joined up for the first time, HUGE THANKS AND CONGRATULATIONS from all the Peace Proms Team.
Best wishes and kind regards
Sharon
