The classes involved in the Dissolving Boundaries Project had a visit from Sustainable Energy Ireland. They learned about renewable energy and took part in lots of interesting experiments. The talk was relayed live to Elmgrove Primary School in Belfast. Elmgrove is the partner school for this North South Project. The project was evaluated recently by the Department of Education here and in Northen Ireland and Scoil Bhríde, Kill was picked from all the schools in the country as an example of how the project should be run. Well done to the teachers, Ms. Farry Roberts, Mr. Carty, Mr. Gordon, Ms. Fitzgerald and children involved.

This year our two 4th and 5th Classes are taking part in the Dissolving Boundaries Project. The Dissolving Boundaries Programme uses Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to facilitate cross-cultural educational linkages between schools in the North and South of Ireland and jointly funded by the two governments. We are linked up with a school in Belfast and both schools are doing a joint project on the Vikings. As part of the project both schools will meet in Dublin on Wednesday 17th November and visit Dublinia and go on the Viking Splash Tour. Also as part of the project the classes involved in our school video conference with the classes in the Belfast school. The aim of the project is to provide opportunities for the development of mutual understanding through collaborative curricular work using virtual and real contact between children in the different school sectors in the north and south of Ireland.
